Batik Design Training: Strengthening Local Wisdom and Shining the World with North Minahasa Batik Motifs

DIANSSULUT.COM, NORTH SULAWESI – The Regional Craft Council (Dekranasda) of North Minahasa, in collaboration with the Government of North Minahasa Regency and TP-PKK Minut, as well as Dekranasda Sulut and the Ministry of Industry of Minut, organized a training on batik design with distinctive motifs from North Minahasa. The activity took place at Pendopo JG-Center on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
The training aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of batik artisans from North Minahasa Regency. It is hoped that through this training, the participants can create new job opportunities and support the economic sector in North Minahasa, especially in selling souvenirs to tourists visiting the region.
The training event was attended by the Regent of North Minahasa, Joune Ganda, Chairperson of Dekranasda Minut and TP-PKK Minut, Mrs. RIZYA Ganda-Davega, representatives from the Provincial Food Agency of North Sulawesi, officials from the local government of Minut, as well as teachers and students.
Regent Joune Ganda expressed heartfelt gratitude to DEKRANASDA of North Sulawesi for showing attention to this event. With joy, he hopes that through this collaboration, batik artworks will be created that not only captivate the eyes but also merge beauty with the distinctive patterns of North Minahasa.
“Not only creating visually stunning artworks, but the Regent of North Minahasa also has a strong determination to depict the cultural richness and local wisdom through the magical touch of batik. To realize this dream, he greatly appreciates the invaluable support from DEKRANASDA of North Sulawesi, so that North Minahasa batik can radiate its enchanting charm to the world,” said the Top Official in North Minahasa who has often received awards.
